can i put in a good word for reading? i don't live there any more and i don't know anyone in LUGs there. but there is a university with a "cybernetics" course, so there should be plenty of geeks. these guys might be interested, and their next meeting is on dec 10th, so it might be possible to go down in advance of a mapping party to warm them up:
http://www.sclug.org.uk/ this area to the west of reading centre is all suburban houses and represents a definite target: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=51.455&lon=-1.0228&zoom=14&layers=000BFTF sadly there isn't any aerial imagery. travel to reading is easy, with direct train lines from london, bristol, south wales, birmingham, oxford, cornwall/devon, etc... cheers, matt On Wed, Nov 26, 2008 at 10:50 AM, Andy Robinson (blackadder-lists) <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi OSMers, > > As many of you will be award Cloudmade are generously sponsoring a monthly > mapping party at the moment and so far we have had great success in > Bradford, Manchester, Stratford-upon-Avon and Evesham. > > Now that Winter is upon us I'm struggling a little to get the level of > interest for the next three parties on the following dates: > > Dec 13/14, 2008 > Jan 24/25, 2009 > Feb 21/22, 2009 > > My provisional plans for December till now have been for a party that > weekend in Plymouth, which has a 250,000 population (similar to Bradford), > Yahoo imagery and very little mapping to date.
