It depends on the renderer, but I'd be surprised if many maps rendered "highway=no".

A quick overpass search finds https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/712060246 .  None of the 4 map layers at osm.org show that.  The effect on a renderer designed to should "designation" is this:

that shows the designated PF in red and the "non-official" part of the route in grey.
