Hi Chris, The best thing would be to take a photo of the restriction signs at either end and compare with the worked examples on the OSM Wik to arrive at the correct tagging: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Conditional_restrictions
To address your specific point, I think motor_vehicle=permit is the correct tag here.
