As a regular user of Liverpool Street and an occasional user of
Paddington I would have to agree that whilst people might or might
not be aware of the technicalities of who runs which bits nobody
would think of them as anything other than one station from a
practical point of view.

There is of course an extra complication with Liverpool Street in
that the Elizabeth Line station is shared with Moorgate with access
possible from both stations to opposite ends of the platforms.

Is there not some way to represent this as a relation so that there
is a single object for the station that groups the different physical
bits with their different operators etc?

I'll be interested to see how this discussion goes.

I must say that, as a user of the two stations mentioned, I am *not* stuck by how 'separate' the different sections are.   I think they feel like single stations, albeit with different branding in some sections. Given that you can get from any point in the station to any other point without leaving (right?) I'd say they are both single stations with different services offered.

That's a personal opinion, based on how it feels to use the station as a passenger, not based on how the stations are operated by TfL/NR, or how they are regulated and ticketed.

Hi all,

In the past few months I have been mapping railway stations in detail, and some of my work has been removed by another mapper citing some form of official truth, sometimes breaking the stop area relations.

The railway stations involved are Paddington, Liverpool Street, etc., where the Elizabeth line station and the Network Rail station are operationally separate (different entrances, gatelines, operators, rows in the Elizabeth line timetable), but are treated as one station by the regulator and for ticketing purposes. Therefore, using the rule of ground truth, they are two separate stations so I have mapped them as such, using a separate railway=station node, but this node keeps getting removed by another mapper.

I hope such action can be stopped and the map should reflect the ground truth that they are two stations.
