I'd love to see this but the tech plumbing behind the scenes would defeat me.

My method is much more analogue: I just check the history for the patch I work in every few days and message a hello to new mappers. There aren't many. It's rare I get a reply (maybe I need to bathe more often!) and often the mapper seems to do one edit that's important to them and then go dark. It's helpful to know if someone is likely to be active on a street or area I've got data to add to. And, I hope...nice and polite too!

John.

Subject: [Talk-GB] OSM-Welcome-Tool and OSM-GB

Hi All,

I discovered the OSM-Welcome-Tool (https://github.com/osmbe/osm-welcome-tool <https://github.com/osmbe/osm-welcome-tool> ) in the most recent WeeklyOSM newsletter. I was wondering if anyone in OSM GB had considered setting up a GB/UK/regional welcome message? I have an OSMCha watch on my local area in West London and have been occasionally manually emailing new contributors offering help and advice, but this seems like a great way to give localised advice with very little work to set up ("set it and forget it") I did a quick search of the talk-gb archive and only saw a reference in passing.

Steven
