Ha! I find the same, rarely get a reply, and when I do they rarely are keen to map beyond the one thing they corrected! There is a bit of a learning curve even for simple edits so I'm surprised when they only make a single edit.
The tech aspect is really easy - I'd be happy to do it, but know there are more techy people on this list who could equally do it. The main issues to decide are: - what modifications would we want to the default template? I imagine we'd want to include a link to the talk-gb mailing list, and the community forum, but I've seen references to other systems too whose name I can't even remember. Maybe we should list them in order of how active the participation is, and the tech barriers to joining. It would be good to link to OSMCal and list some of the in person meetups too. I think an elevator pitch about why people *should* consider contributing more would be good too. - what area to select for our custom welcome message. Unless there are very local specific communities, one for the whole of the UK might be okay, though I think someone has already set up Scotland as a custom region.
