Have updates to aerial images that can be used for OpenStreetMap work
dried up generally, or just in my local area?

My patch is Cambridge, and I mostly use iD. From occasional forays into
other places, my impression was that we hitherto had it relatively good
for up-to-date aerials in Cambridge, but by now they're too old to keep
up with new developments.

The most recent aerials shown in iD are getting on for two years old.
By increasing age, we have:
 - Esri World Imagery (Jan 2024)
 - Mapbox Satellite (somewhere in between)
 - Bing (Apr-Jun 2023)
 - Esri World Imagery (Clarity) Beta (more than a decade old)

I'm not au fait with the arrangements OSM makes for getting aerials
available under a suitable licence. Have they broken down / got harder
or something?

Jacob
