Thanks, for this. I was going to make the same point. However, I'd think the relevant OS OpenData BoundaryLine file ought to be available by the elections.
To keep things simple I suspect most boundaries will be aligned with existing wards from the existing admin_level=6 authorities (county councils and unitaries). Anything else creates a lot of work for the Local Government Boundaries Commission. I'll check this idea out with Nottinghamshire.
