Great idea! Will be good if you add somewhere on the (India) wiki to add tracks for existing routes as well - even I haven't uploaded gps traces for existing routes. And yes, I trim the traces with gpsbabel to get minimum points in the trace (trimming can reduce number of track points by 95%) does that effect your calculations?
