I think i need to apologize for not saying this sooner. Re: all the latitude49 stuff
- we added the ability to support multiple style sheets based upon polygon region to mapnik so that we could have the 3 different map styles for the world - one of which is a US style. Point is, it should be entirely possible to create a US-based version of the OSM style without having to change a single tag.
