Hi Y'all,

This may be slightly premature, but if all goes well, my conversion of the latest NHD high-res data set to OSM format should complete within 24 hours. The data set will be approximately 15 GB, zipped.

So my question is: where to put this for users to download? My main motivation for starting this conversion was:

- To let users import, edit and merge NHD data without having to run a command-line based conversion and - To let users user the NHD data without having to extract it from the NHD website (which makes shapefiles hard/impossible to get).

I could potentially throw this onto one of LR's servers for a while at least. Does OSM have a more 'official' place to hold this kind of data?

If/when we find things wrong with the conversion, I can re-run it. From the discussion, some of the requested changes would require changes to the conversion toolchain.

cheers
Ben
