I'm surprised that NOAA "Coastal" Lidar went so far inland. I would also be interested in how to use LAZ files with OSM tools or other FLOSS tools. (I note there's an open tool to uncompress LAZ to LAS.) I see some tutorials for extracting buildings, but I'm interested in traces of former land-use - finding artificial linear ground features under the foliage.
