I find facebook one of most accessible social networking sites out there.
They may not be perfect, but there's hardly anything that you can't do on
facebook with a screenreader. Also, before they introduced audio alternative
and mobile phone registration all you needed to do is email them and they'd
set up an account for you and it usually happened in space of just few
hours! So I say huts off to facebook, in fact I wish more companies were so
cooperative.

Sadly a lot of you can't do this, but for those in the UK who might be
interested, it could prove interesting.
This is a possible time-waster so feel free to skip.
On Monday, September 10, 2007 1:16 PM,
Katherine Moonan happened to mention in passing:
Dear AbilityNet tester,
We are currently researching the use of social networking websites (such
as MySpace, YouTube and Facebook) by people with disabilities.
We'd like to hear about the networking sites you enjoy using, which ones
are not accessible to you and what improvements you would like to see
made.
Also, if you live in the Greater London area and would like to be take
part in a usability test or be interviewed on video please get in touch.
The questionnaire starts with an introduction; you can go straight to
the form if you don't want to read it.
We estimate the form will take between 20 and 45 minutes to complete,
depending on whether you're using an assistive technology.
If you don't want to fill out the whole questionnaire, you can either
complete the parts you're interested in or reply viaa email.
Please do forward this email to anyone you think might be interested.
All responses need to back by next Monday (17th September).
We have tested the form with a variety of assistive technologies but
even we get things wrong!
So if you have a problem, please do throw a tomato at me and if you have
a moment let us know and we'll fix it.
Many thanks in advance for your time,
Kath
