While this isn't it's typical use - if you don't mind a little bit of VB
code for assembling the HL7 you certainly could do what you're asking
for here.
BWS does have the ability to listen for / send data across a socket. And
can help some with the data formatting - although creating HL7 is not a
"graphically" configured thing - the DataStation would help a lot with
reading and parsing the flat file.

Can anyone tell me if BWS can work as an HL7 interface engine?

 

What I want to do is pick up a flat text file, format it into an HL7
record, then send it to an IP address through a specific port.

 

I assume I will be able to do the file formatting without much trouble
but I am not sure if (or how) BWS can make the connection and send the
file.
