Cool! I meant face to face registration, although in your process I am
sure there are still a number of unexpected results. Especially in
insurance and subscriber screens.

Hi,

I have a script that registers approximately 1500 outpatient LABs per day.
A file is created from our OV LAB system nightly and FTP'd to the MEDITECH
machine. This file is then parsed and processed into MEDITECH through the
registration screens. Though, there is significant error trapping for the
"unexpected", the process works quite well.

It could be a secondary benefit, but there are better products for
automating downloading, MPRINT being great. The primary benefit of BW is
to script. Instead of a human reading the screen, making a decision, and
inputting data, the computer does this. Which means that the process has
to be simple enough that the logic can be programmed, unexpected results
can be dealt with, etc. You wouldn't use BW to register a patient, but BW
could watch and when it sees a facesheet print on prompt take over the
session and perform some action. Or here we update 3000 dictionary items
from an Excel spreadsheet without the clerical staff typing.

Hope this helps,

John

Can a process to automate the downloading of a report from Meditech be
accomplished with BW? I looked at some of the past postings and they seem
to reference the NPR Client/Server .. we don't have that version, the
reports can be scheduled BUT the downloading of them has to be manual (is
what I am told from OUR NPR gurus). Would this be a typical use and/or be a
rationale to use BW? Remember I am new to this ... so be gentle ....
