Hi: It may be so many things. In my Windows 8.1 .I have found the synth I am using is sometimes a little laggy but when things get more noticiballly slow I am usually in Outlook, Visual Studio and sometimes the internet with Internet Explorer. My first thought was to try another synth but I havent gotten around to downloading and installing the one I want yet. I have turned off most all the screen dynamics like fade into view, slide into view tool tips and a few others on my Windows 8.1 machine and that helpped a little. The curious thing is that sometimes the typing works great while other times it getts bogged down and has even failed from time to time. I also have turned off automatic spell and grammar checking as far as I can tell - it is defined in a few places with Office I think, and that seemed to help some as well. But there is still a way to go to get the performance I am accustom to. I will, someday, get around to installing the synth I use to use on my xp machine to see if reading quality and performance improves but just havent had time to negotiate that yet. Some time ago I did notice a lag when I had the speak capitilization set in the WindowEyes properties so turned it off but I don't know since that was when I was first struggling with Windows 8.1 and WE 8.x. I would try the things I mentioned above and then you might try turning off and on individual features or scripts to see if you isolate the problem. include the Operating Systema and program(s) you are having problems in just in case they are related to the program you are trying to use and others may know of some settings or work-arounds for that prograam.
