Whenever you go to delete stuff, whether mail or file, hold down shift and hit delete. It should ask you if you are sure you want to permanently delete, and you will choose yes. Raj

I know that Ccleaner has that ability to write data on all unused parts of the hard drive. It will take some time and I don't know if I would trust it not to screw up things you don't want destroyed. I am sure there are other programs that will do the same. Of course after deleting something over time new data would be written over it with normal operation.
