One just needs to read the release notes for Window Eyes 9.1 to understand
why this is good advice. The AI Squared folks suggested WE users stick with
the older version of iTunes until they had time to work on making WE work
well with the new iTunes. This was back when iTunes 12 came out and before
even the beta of 9. They didn't put out any updates that included
improvements for iTunes 12 until the release of WE 9.1 which had specific
reference in the release notes to the changes made to address accessibility
of iTunes 12. One could use WE 8.4 or 9.0 with the latest iTunes, but in
addition to issues reported on this list and others when 12.0 was the newest
version, 12.1 introduced a bunch of accessibility problems that were only
just addressed in the latest, 12.1.2 I think, though I may be wrong. If you
check out the release notes for WE 9.1, there is a section specifically
discussing what issues were fixed for iTunes 12 users.
I am sure staff could add more, but one can get a good deal of information
on this topic by searching the list archives for the past few months worth
of posts on iTunes 12 and consulting the 9.1 release notes. It isn't that
you can't install iTunes 12 and use it with older versions of WE, it is that
there are specific issues, some quite serious like being unable to search in
the iTunes Store if you do this.

Chris

I still haven't moved beyond WE version 8.4. How well does ITunes work
with this? I am learning to use my IPhone 6, but there may be times where
I want to use the computer for something. Also, it's my understanding that
you need ITunes to copy anything from your computer to an Apple device.
