Hi Larry,

When you say you've tried both toggles, what precisely do you mean?
I ask this because, off the top of my head, I'm only aware of one
keyboard-related toggle, namely, Qwerty-Number-2, also known as the Key Echo
setting.
Unless there's something weird happening, this setting is global and so is
saved by pressing Control-S as you say in the Window-Eyes control panel.
Of course, this does assume that the scope for this has not been changed
from global to program in the associated set file.
Before we go any further, in the Window-Eyes control panel, use Alt-H to
open the Help menu, and arrow down to Show Advanced options, and if it is
unchecked, press enter to check it.
The setting you want is found in the Keyboard node of the settings
treeview, expand this, arrow to Voice, tab once to the scope for this
setting, and then tab again to modify the actual setting itself;
once set properly, pressing Control-S will save the setting.
However, remember that the setting will be true for all set files which have
their scope for this setting set to global.
Any set file which has the scope for this setting set to program will use
the program-specific setting.
So, if you just use the global setting for Key echo, just ensure the scope
is set to global, adjust the next combo box the way you like it, and then
press Control-S to save it.
Set files can be a little confusing to work with at first, but the important
thing to keep in mind is that you can always determine the current set file
in effect for a particular program by making the program the active program,
use Control-backslash to invoke the Window-Eyes control panel, and the
currently active set file will be spoken since it's on the title bar, which
can always be read with Control-Shift-T in the default keyboard layout.

Hth,

Rod

Subject: Can't seem to keep keyboard settings saved

Hello Listers, Here I am again.

Have any of you experienced what I am at present, and if so, is there
really anything that can be done about it?

I am running Window-Eyes for Office, and no matter what I do, I can't
get my keyboard settings to save. I have tried both toggles, pressed
ctrl-s to save a million times, but no go. So, what is the secret. Am
really becoming quite frustrated.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

Larry
