For what it's worth, you can also use the read line hot key. The first press (obviously) reads the line. The second spells it. And the third spells it phonetically.

4.  Press escape to cancel the rename.

Or you can download and install a replacement file manager such as Xplorer 2.  
IMHO it has more features then Windows Explorer.
