Because, Tap in Radio is it's own application. It's not web based. You don't go to a web site to play the stations. It uses an API, and therefore the app has it's own U I which you navigate. It's got a full menu bar, and d everything like you'd expect a standard accessible application to have, and it has its own executable install shield. Oh, and by the way, for those who are so inclined to know, you even can run it as a portable installation from a flash drive! Trust me, it freaking rocks!

Chris.

Hi Bill
I know of tunein.com and have used it for sometime now, but it is a
web-based service. I prefer something that is independent. I have just
recently been introduced to tapin radio and it seems to be doing some
of what I want. Well it has its lows and ups. But thank you for your
advice.

Granted, I really don't know what this has to do with Window-Eyes, seeing
that you very specifically said you're using NVDA and JAWS, not W E, and as

far as I knew, this list primarily was designed for W E.

That said, I'm not about to play moderator. If anything, I know something
that you could use that works great!

Try Tapin Radio.

Yes, it works great with W E as well, for those who're wonderring.

Chris.

Have you tried tunein.com? It seems pretty accessible and lets you play
stations from anywhere in the world.

Hi list subscribers

I'm using NVDA and jaws to access my computer.

I am totally Blind and love listening to internet radio stations.

Many of the radios I listen to use flash player to play.

As you might know, flash player is not that accessible with screen
reader.

For instance, I cannot get to the buttons to control the volume, mute the
radio or play and/or pause it as I so wish.

Moreover, many of these radios seem to be getting rid of players like
winamp
/ vlc which I used before to play them in favour of the flash player.

Do you know of any web-based service that is accessible to play this type

of
content?

Or any desktop application that can play internet radio with such formats

as
.m3u, .asx, .pls or even flash content and the screen reader like nvda or
jaws can work with?

Your help is, in advance, appreciable.

Regards
Marisane
