Hi Michael,

Some years back I needed to do this, but I was a real newbee to the world of
audio productions; so when I asked, I also requested a recommendation for an
easy-to-use recording package.

Sam sounds like a real pro, but the advice I got similar to that he gave you,
didn't work for me because my sound card didn't produce that device for "record
what you hear" because it was a laptop.

So, if you end up with similar problems, I used Total Recorder which came with
an add-in for mixing your mike input in with your sound card output (I think
that's what I did). It also offered an add-in for processing speech to sound
better, and another for leveling your volume across the entire recording.

Finally, if you get more complex (as I had to do), I used a software package
called virtual cable which allowed me to connect just certain program outputs
together to make the input to total recorder, and also, it allows you to take
an output source and split it so it will serve two separate inputs (as for
instance sending your mike both into your recording software and into something
else you were using). Virtual Cable (or maybe it was Virtual Audio Cable) was
hard to use.

Subject: mixing audio using window-eyes

Hi guys,

I need to produce a an audio tutorial using the computer, and for this
purpose, I need to record both the voice of the window-eyes screen reader
and my speech at the same time.

Using Audiocity, can someone explain me which settings I need to change in
Audiocity so I can record both the computer speech and myself talking? If
there is a better tool than audiocity, I'm open for suggestions.

thank you in advance for your kind help.

Michael Micallef
