Ivan, I didn't see any answers to your question yet so I can tell you what I've found using I.E. 10.
When downloading, things seem to go into the last place something was downloaded to. Meaning, when I downloaded books from BARD once they went into my Pictures folder. That's because the last thing that was downloaded was a picture someone sent by email. That left the "download to" location as Pictures. I actually found the books by accident but you might be able to find them using the start menu search.
