If you used IE browser try ctrl+g or ctrl+j when the browser is in focus /
running. One of these keystrokes will reveal a list view of the last couple
downloads you did. If you see your file in the list simply press your right
arrow key until you hear something saying open in folder.

I didn't see any answers to your question yet so I can tell you what I've
found using I.E. 10.
When downloading, things seem to go into the last place something was
downloaded to. Meaning, when I downloaded books from BARD once they went
into my Pictures folder. That's because the last thing that was downloaded
was a picture someone sent by email. That left the "download to" location
as Pictures. I actually found the books by accident but you might be able
to find them using the start menu search.
