Karen,
When you are in your email message, do not click on the attachment.
Instead, hit the WE hotkey for attachments, Control Alt A. This will open a
dialog box that will display all attachments in the message. You highlight
the one you want to save, then tab to the save button and you'll be given a
standard save dialog. Note, if you have a newer copy of Kurzweil 1000
installed, this hotkey combination will conflict. I think you can try
hitting the WE bypass key first insert B. If that doesn't work, go to the
file menu while the message is open and arrow down to the save attachments
option.
I wonder if the reason you are having issues with the attachment is not that
it's opening in a special format, but that you are accidentally opening the
preview of the attachment. This is a default option in Outlook. I'm
guessing that the way you got to the attachment was to shift tab from the
message to the attachment area, then arrowed to the attachment. If you do
this, the default action Outlook will perform is to open the attachment as a
preview right there in the body of the message and this is not readable with
WE. Instead, once you shift tab to the line where attachments are listed,
use Control right arrow to move through the attachments. Then you can use
the context key to select OPEN or SAVE. The first item listed on the
context menu is preview, unless you go into Outlook options and disable
this. If you accidentally open the preview, just Escape out of the message
and re-open it to try again.
Hope this makes sense. Happy to try to clarify.

I'm trying to open and save a scanned image. For some reason the "save as"
option isn't showing up. I think I need to have someone take a look at
this. It appears that my problem is a photo viewer that doesn't seem to
want to get out of the way.
On my old computer, I didn't have to open the file to save it. I could just
have the name of the file highlighted, and select the "save as" option from
the context menu. That doesn't seem to be an option here.

So you can open up an attachment in word/office 2010. ...no brainer, just go
tosave as, then save into whatever folder you want, and that 's it.
Best Regards

Hi,
Ok, It's the learning curve on my new computer again.
I've figured out how to open an email attachment, but can't seem to figure
out how to save it in my Documents. Using Outlook in Office 10, and Windows
7.
Thanks.
Karen P
