Hello. I agree with you totally. The only real reason why in some parts of Canada, and in the US many people prefer the free version is because they can't get a rehab agency to purchase Window-Eyes because jfw already got them in its teeth. I myself don't have an SMA and I'm on a fixed income. Our local dealer, which is named Aroga, that distributes Window-Eyes rarely sells any copies of it thanks to the free office inishitive of it and there are users all the time in Canada who are using it.

You also don't have to pay for Eloquence, which while it isn't my favorite synthesizer in terms of the actual speech is still just about the fastest synthe I've ever used in terms of responsiveness, although the Vocalizer voices are pretty good in that department as well. Focus your powers and prepare for buttle. -----Original Message----- From: Marvin Commerford via Talk Sent: Wednesday, July 29, 2015 1:36 PM To: Van Lant, Robin ; Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: Re: Opinion on moving from paid version of WE to free version Hi. Actually you would need to purchase a license for Dectalk. Actually you've already made the large investment by buying WE in the first place. For me the cost of an SMA is worth it for the tech support and the delivery of cds for upgrades that use an SMA count. You also can get your licensed upgrade quickly. Ok, the servers got hammered at first but you've had WE for a while and probably have had quite a few upgrades while you've had your SMA. I would rather have an agreement with GW/AI for my screen reader. MS has nothing to do with it this way. The free option is really fantastic for people who can't make the initial investment in their screen reader but in my opinion its value decreases for those of us who are working with the licensed full copy.
