This is interesting. My first screen reader was called ASAW. I hadn't used a computer before 1997. ASAW didn't work very well, but I was excited to be able to read and write the printed word again, after 20 years of blindness. I had previously been a remedial reading teacher a nd an avid reader, as well as a songwriter. Braille wasn't my thing at all, being an adult, when going blind. This technology is a miracle.
