The fee for Becky is a onetime payment.
I bought mine in 2005 and it is still being updated and working well.

Subject: Re: not a win-eyes problem, but you might know the answer

Hi,

I too used Eudora till just recently, when I was switching Internet providers,
and could not get Eudora to work. Certificate problems here too.

I reluctantly switched over to Becky, after giving the other email programs a
try. Becky seems to work the best, but it too has its quirks.

I never liked Thunderbird's Spell Checker, and Windows Live Mail just would
never cooperate. Probably a user with little patience just not giving WLM much
of a chance.
Becky is not Free, and will cost you about $40. It does have a 30 day trial
period, and the program will run after the 30 days are up, but will tell you
three times that Becky is Shareware and that you've gone over the 30 day trial
period. but, pressing the Enter key three times during its start up will get
you by these messages, and into the program.

Becky handles multiple email accounts, and sorts mail well too.

Becky is made by some good people in Japan, and there is the ocasional bit of
Asian Lodgic that will have you scratching your head, until you catch on. But,
all in all, Becky is working well for me, and I'll probably pay the $40 once I
figure out a few more things.

The program does have a Help file, and like most Help files, it does
tell you a little, but there are some questions you will need to use the
Trial and Error method to come up with an answer.
