Dave, using the Microsoft viewer, the f8 way of selecting works.

Hi Chris,

I have tried this several times, but without success. I defined the highlight key to alt-shift-H as you did, then closed the control panel and opened a new message in Eudora. I entered the same text as you and moved the cursor to the middle of the text. I then used the numpad insert plus to route the mouse to the curser. Next I moved the cursor to the beginning of the text using home and then to the end of the text using shift end. Then I pressed my new hot key, alt-shift-H and got only a beep--no announcement that the highlight color was set. Either I am making a misstep or you left out a step. Do you have a suggestion?

Dave

Hi,
Do the following to fix the issue.
1. In hot keys/miscellaneous define set highlight color to a hot key of your choice. I set mine to shift-alt-h.
2. Open a new message in Eudora.
3. In the message body, write a line, I chose "this is a test."
4. Move your cursor somewhere in the line.
5. Press insert-numpad plus to route the mouse to the line.
6. Press home to move to the beginning of the line.
7. Press shift-end to select the line. Note: nothing is announced.
8. Press the hot key you defined in the first step. A message is announced telling you the highlight color was set.
9. Open up the Window-eyes control panel and save the settings.

Dave, you wrote earlier, saying that Eudora was not reading text
selected with WE, 9.2. I tried selecting text and got the same
results. However, if you select with the shift and arrow keys, the
text is selected. Interestingly, if I select with shift end, the
selected text is read.
