Good afternoon RW,

Make sure you have the latest sound card drivers. I had similar problems and
that took care of it for me. You might consider de-fragmenting your hard drive.
This can often improve performance.

Disable any services that are running that you may not really need. A lot of
software installs startup hooks in your “Startup” folder or may create registry
keys to run certain services at system startup. Use <Ctrl><Shift><Esc> to open
“Task manager”. You can then look in the "Startup” tab to see what programs or
services are set to automatically startup when your system starts or you login.

You can highlight and task. Then use a right-mouse click and choose “disable”
to disable that given task.

You might want to enable “Show suspended status” under the “View” menu and
“Status Values”. So you can tell if a task or service is “Suspended”.

That said a machine that is infected with a virus or malware could cause
slowdowns.

I hope this helps. I have included screen shots for those with low vision and
tried to be as descriptive as I could for everyone else. I am still figuring
out the short-cuts to better navigate Windows 10. So I apologize for not having
complete navigation / keyboard short-cuts yet.

P.S. Text the word BLIND to 85944 to donate $10 to the NFB Imagination Fund via
your phone bill.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between
blind people and our dreams. You can have the life you want; blindness is not
what holds you back.
