OK, OK. I'm begining to think too many people have too much timeon their hands. So most of us received an inaccessible e-mail from a company whose goal is to provide accessible software. While the irony is not lost on me,haven't we gone over this enough?

Hi, I completely agree with Rod. Also, if you guys look at the accessworld interview when the beginning of the merger happened, David Woo and Dan clearly said that Window-Eyes is now here to stay and that it will never ever be going away anytime soon.

Hi Stephen,

Honestly, I did not nor do I wish to escalate this into an argument, and please allow me to apologize if you are offended by my response to your post, which is below, and to which I have replied once again for clarity. If you read your words below, perhaps you can explain why you suggested that Window-Eyes might not continue to be developed by AI Squared. It seems to me that you were simply joking that you ran the AI Squared post through a binary file analizer and discovered the above information. Either that or you received a copy of the post which did have such embedded information. I would very much like to make peace with you, if possible, but I don't wish myself or AI Squared to be thought of as foolish or victims of ridicule. It's a fine line between letting go and surrender, if you can appreciate where I'm coming from.

Best regards,

Rod

Actually, It was binary not text. I ran it through a binary editor, and had it try to extract any text it could find out of it and it found some text which said, we really don't care about all the problems with our screen reader at this point were way over are heads and there may never even be another Window-eyes version.

Only thing I don't get, is why you would like to put any kind of
teaser out like this. Seems your screen reader needs more attention,
and things need a brush. Then to flush the market with a ton of
teasers, "look what we may bring soon", "Just wait till next year",
and so forth, seems no less than frustrating.

besides, If this was meant to be a non-textual teaser, with only some
kind of iconic or even grapical appearance, why post it to a list that
mainly is trafficated by more or less blind people. Instead of
teasing, all you accomplished was to frustrate. Honestly, that is no
beneficial business approach.

I do second the request, that you please keep this list freed from any
more of such stuff. We have enough complaints about people posting
Off-Topic matters here, let alone that we now have to deal with even
the list-managers themselves putting out mails that are nothing but
useless. You know, that is actually another version of what in the
computer world is named SPAM. Unwanted, non-requested and often
useless emails that float into your mailbox. If the owners of this
list find there is a bit too little traffic on the list, why not put
out something readable, informative, and REAL. Stop all that "Stay
tuned and we may happen to show you what we can do" stuff. Get back to
your customers, when you have things ready, and when you are willing
to share it in a manner that your customers actually know to read.
You, AISquared if any, should know what your screen reader can
perform. You would have absolutely no excuse for throwing out mails
like this, then telling the market "oh, sorry, we did not make it
accessible". Please, abstain from any more of this stuff.

Among others, I did let the synth chatter away, for a minute or two,
trying to figure what it all was about. I immediately recognized it as
html-code, but sometimes you can figure a thing or two, from the few
pieces of text in between the code. This time, a clear waiste of time,
and afterwards, a long line of complaints. And when you come back with
further info on the matter, I really still am scratching my hair off,
to figure what it all was about, or meant to say. Your explanation,
Jeremy, simply gave NO meaning whatsoever. What was the whole message
trying to convey? That you had too much leasure time at work, or is it
possible we are to take this teaser seriously, and hope for an
anouncement in the near future about some exciting news from the
screen reader front? If the latter, why did you not just tell us so,
in plain readable text? even when you were to explain the flaw? Just
wondering.

Time to get back to what this list - the way I understand it - is
purposed for. Anyone else have some meaningful questions on how to
operate the screen reader?

Thanks for the response Jeremy.

However, even if I had seen the alt text, I would not have understood
that there was no text to be had in the message, so it would not have
stopped me from spending that frustrating couple of minutes looking
for it.

I am one who hopes there are no more "teasers" like this.

Hi,

You should have seen Red Hot News from Ai Squared followed by an alt
tag for an image of a red wig. We put in the alternative text, so my
only guess is that your email client stripped it out.

It is a teaser campaign for something coming soon.

Stay tuned!

Jeremy

I don't think it says anything (my gues is that this is on purpose)
... I wrote them and told them if so, and if I had this right, then I
didn't appreciate spending so much time trying to figure out that it
said nothing. It was frustrating as well as time consuming.

just have to wait to see!
