Chris,

It should but it's not. I intentionally caused the problem and rebuilding or editing the ini file was the only way I could get it back.

I already let Aaron know about it.

Hi wouldn't the reset settings button found in options do the same?

For those of you who lost the Virtual view window:
Open the Window-Eyes control panel.
Alt-A Apps.
Enter on App management.
P to open App manager.
V to go to the VirtualView app in the list.
Alt-T to stop the app. You should hear, "App stopped."
Escape out of that dialog but remain in the Window-Eyes control panel.
Alt-F File and E to Explore profile folder.
Enter "vi" to jump to the VirtualView files.
Rename VirtualView.ini to VirtualView.ini.bak.
Close Explorer and you should land back in the Window-Eyes control panel.
Go back into Apps, App management, App manager, VirtualView, and Alt-T
to start it up again.
This will rebuild the .ini file with the default settings.

Tom

Josh,

The File button opens a new window with a standard file open dialog.
You can open basically any type of file. But typically you'll use it
to open a PDF that is a scanned image or has images with text amid
the
normal text. Aaron also gave examples of images embedded in Word
documents, spread sheets and Power Point presentations. You can also
open all the types of image files listed in the release notes.

whatever technology they use for OCR it seems to be just as good as
jaws. NVDA OCR is not as good as window-eyes OCR though just from
playing around with it. also what does the file button do, and what
kind
of files will it recognise?

Nope. The same technology exists in Windows 7, too. And Windows 8.

Hi, Josh.

Virtual View takes builds on the Windows TIFF IFilter interface,
which is built into the operating system. This is the same system
used by Cortana in Windows 10. You can read more here:
