Hi Reg, I agree with what has been said already, and I would hazard a guess that you might get more reliable performance by making the USB sound device the default audio Playback device. This works for me on my Windows 7 PC.

My problem is that I don't understand why it selects the right device sometimes on startup, but not at others, when it appears to make an arbitrary selection. I'm guessing there's sometimes a discrepancy between when USB becomes available, and when W-E selects the ports available, but maybe not. -- Reg <regw...@btinternet.com> On Thu, 3 Dec 2015 22:41:58 -0800 "net bat" <net...@comcast.net> wrote: > in your w e synthisizer settings make sure that it is not set to use a backup synthisizer. > sometimes you have to unplug and re insert the usb cable so windows can properly detect the usb port. > > > -----Original Message----- From: Reg Webb via Talk > Sent: Thursday, December 03, 2015 8:23 PM > To: talk@lists.window-eyes.com > Subject: W-e Not reliably selecting my speech sound device > > Hi all > > While on the subject of sound device selection, I have Vocalise Samantha > as my default software speech, with a USB sound device as its chosen > sound card.
