Hi, One thing you can try to do is disable the lightning calendar extension.
I just did this and can't reproduce the loss of functionality when writing. Of course, 2 minutes after I send this, who knows. (smile) Alt-t, down arrow to add-ons and press enter. Turn off browse mode and tab to your extensions list. Arrow to lightning and hit the applications key. Down arrow to disable.
