What I have found is that if you put the computer into sleep mode then
close the lid it will return from sleep working fine. If you just close
the lid to put the computer into sleep mode you have problems.

fixed when coming out of Sleep mode, not quite. Often in Word 2010, returning
to an open document doesn't always resume speech output correctly. You need to
either Alt Tab bback and forth, enter and leave the We control panel, or
restart Window-eyes to resume proper key navigation.
