Unless you know the carrier of that person's cell number, probably not. Each carrier has its own way of accepting text messages from a computer. For example, AT&T's texting service uses the following:

[email protected]

Other carriers will do something else. As far as I know, there's no way to determine by phone number what carrier the person to whom you want to send a text message has. Hope this helps.--Matt, N1IBB.

Dear List:

In the past, if I knew the domain of someone's cell phone, I could send a
message to their phone. However, I usually do not know their domain. When
anyone else texts from their phone to another phone, all they need is the
ten-digit phone number. Is there a way for me to text from my computer to
someone's phone with just their phone number? Thanks. Regards: Ted Larson
