Yes, you can text from your computer to a cell phone. If you don't know the carrier's SMS gateway address, no worries, just go here: http://www.freesmsgateway.info/ In the edit box, type the phone number of the person you want to send a text to and whack <enter>. Use the cursor keys to read the results provided. You should have both the SMS gateway and the MMS gateway addresses displayed and you can pick either to use for sending the text message from your computer.
