Hi Carol,

I'm not quite sure how the keystrokes you summarized start Window-Eyes.
However, as has been mentioned in another reply, it would simply be a matter
of ensuring you have the proper startup option under General, Startup
options.
My guess is that he installed XP Pro, which tends to be rather stickly about
permissions.
The key, however, is to ensure he sets it to come up for all users at the
login screen, as well as all users after login.
The dialog tends to be a little confusing here, but, if yu study it
carefully, you can get it set up properly.

Hth,

Rod

Subject: older version of Window-Eyes and XP

Hi,

My brother had to install an older version of Window-Eyes on his old XP
computer after replacing the hard drive. The computer does not come up
talking. The only way he can get speech, after everything is loaded, is to
press control-backslash, alt, y, enter and then WE starts speaking.
He would like to know if he has fogotten a step somewhere. He still has the
same hardware and everything else. Thanks for any assistance.

Carol
