Yeah, this is in contrast to what we're hearing from them, so now we've got 2 stories. As of right now it's pretty much unusable so yeah.

Well, ain't it just funny, their slogan.

A perfect replacement for Outlook Express and Windows (Live) Mail:....

How perfect is a software, that does not even care much about its users?
Even when they obviously are well aware of the issue, down to the degrade
that they have gone the extra mile few developers do, to download and test
NVDA in conjunction with their product.

Unfortunately, we have seen this happen before. Even good, reliably
accessible products - hardware just as much as software - when they
modernize the software, well there goes accessibility. The reply you got,
shows one important fact. Accessibility is not always a matter of
possibility, but rather a matter of priority and attitude. Seems today, in
the world of smartphones and tablets, that people are becoming kind of
practical illiterates - that is, if they don't get a picture or an icon to
swipe, klick or tab on, they are ready to go hungry from the table. :) I
have recently experienced several cases, where people simply do not
understand how you would ever operate a computer, if there is no icons, and
how would you ever survive without the mouse? No, it is no bad joke, but
that is what people puzzle.

Guess the best thing in your case, hard as the suggestion might be, is to
leave all products from this manufacturer alone. Likely, it won't bring
anything to keep trying their products. Might be a better go for you, to
either find another software that would hold the features you are after, or
even go and climb the learning curve of one of the alternative products out
there.

My intention here is not to start a long line of mourning over things we
would have liked to see. I just found it quite contradicting, their slogan
and their attitude. And I want you to know, you are not the only one
experiencing this kind of lack of understanding of our situation.

I think scripting or other screenreader modifications are going to be
our best bett. I've never quite understood this mentality by these
developers. So they can do something that makes their program
available to as wide of an audience as humanly possible, but other
stuff is higher on the roadmap??

WTF? Why on earth would they not want to make their program as
usable to as many people as possible? They look at usability of the
program as a feature. Also, adding labels to these controls is not an
impossible thing. They make it sound as if we're asking for the moon
and the stars or something. Sheesh. i know we're not their first
priority and i know we're a very small group of people, but if they
make excuses like this it shows a real lack of a commitment to
accessibility, which is really sad.

Hi list,

Below is the responce I recieved from Customer support of oe2. I
think they are saying it will take a long, long, time for it to be
made accessible for us.

We are aware that OE Classic has issues with screen-readers for
certain controls. To avoid technical explanation, we are aware that
these controls need a Accessible Name which is something what is
built into Windows (more recent versions such as Windows Vista or
more recent) but unfortunately, they are fairly recent and are not
implemented to the level of all Windows controls which OE Classic
uses. So we have to add support for this name in controls - there are
a few methods to do this and we examined them for a while.

For now, this is in To-Do list. As we are fairly small team, it will
take a while (possibly even a good while) before we start addressing
these issues.
We have been testing it with NVDA and we found that some controls
behave really poorly, while others behaved surprisingly well (mostly
buttons and checkboxes). I have added you to the notification list so
when we make more progress toward that goal I will notify you - but
it will be a while before that happens.

best regards,
Zvonko Tesic

Dear Customer Service,

I am a blind person, using a screen reading program called
window-eyes. I downloaded oe2 and found that the program lacked
accessibility for my program. The options menu would not read with
the tab or shift tab keys.
~The focus didn't go to the next email when the email highlighted was
deleted.

The folder view was only accessible using the shift tab stroke.
