Not aware of any database that would be doing exactly this. Though I am 
not very familiar with commercial databases either.


I'd say, this whole thing would be quickly and easily done, by a few 
lines of scripting. It is but one example, where scripting takes the 
bigger bite, over any full-fledged piece of software, simply because you 
can make the script do it the way you want.


Without promising anything further, you are welcome to get in touch 
OFF-LIST, to discuss further scripting solution. Until I know more 
details on the project, I am not going to promise anything at all.
