Dave, Often VFO runs extreme discounts around the consumer conventions in July. I received my home edition of JAWS 16 for $75 in 2015, and the same thing was offered last summer. I was able to upgrade it for $250 to the professional version that could run on a corporate computer. If you are interested, I would watch for promotions around the conventions next summer and perhaps even around CSUN. There is no guarantee, of course, and you are right to be concerned about the price.
