Last year you could buy JAWS at the conventions for $75.00. I would buy it for that price if they would let you buy it without being at the convention.

Presumably, WE still works, so why do you have to buy Jaws?

Hi Vaughan,

I sincerely hope that Jaws really works for you.
You have to go with what works. (smile)

Good luck,

Rod

Subject: Window-Eyes has gone from my employer's computer

Greetings everyone.

Over the weekend, I switched to JFW, and it has come as something of a
shock to realise that Window-eyes is no longer the preferred screen reader.

Yesterday it came off my workstation at work.

JFW meets more of my work requirements than does Window-Eyes. The
braille support with the Focus line of displays is far better than the
support I could get from Window-eyes.

JFW's extensive help and other training material is for me quite
daunting, but I'll get used to it.

Web browsing at close to JFW default settings gives more information
regarding elements and content.

Outlook is keeping track of open messages more reliably.

Yesterday at work: Window-Eyes crashed four times in three hours. To be
more accurate: other apps interacting with Window-Eyes crashed, and
Outlook was one of the prime culprits.
The corporate network gets grumpy with respect to some of the
Window-eyes apps. I am sure that it probably also does with JFW's scripts.

So: it is sad to see an old friend go, but when the tools of the trade
no longer do what is required, hard decisions have to be made with
respect to those tools.

Vaughan.
