Hmm, I would think that mpg contains the video portion, too. Good luck.
I hope you don't need to re-record the videos. I will talk to my
brother and ask him, to make sure.

my old laptop but had also backed up to an external hard drive. I had one of
those video to computer conversion kits. I do not recall if I ever tested the
back up files on my previous laptop to in sure that what I moved to the
external hard drive was copied correctly, I just assumed that it did as I have
with all my other files.

capture card on your PC, then, that's all you would have recorded.
You would have had to record in MPG or WMV or another video file format as

On my old Windows 7 laptop, I had copied some olfd VHS movies to my hard drive
for my kids. I would play them with Window Media Player. I got a new Windows
10 laptop and copied the movies from my external backup hard drive to load them
onto this new laptop. I went to show my kids a movie as I had done previously,
but they are telling me there is no video on Window Media Player, just sound.
Any ideas if there is some setting that needs to be tweaked?
