Hi:

When using JAWS, you do it almost the same way as Window-Eyes, except that you
have to enable the JAWS cursor before arrowing up and down. I’m assuming you
are using the desktop layout. If so, you enable the JAWS cursor using the
minus key on the numpad. JAWS will say, “JAWS Cursor”. You can arrow up and
down, pretty much the same way you did in Window-Eyes. The mouse follows you,
just like it does in Window-Eyes. However, when you finish reviewing things,
you need to switch back to the PC cursor using the plus key on the numpad.
Otherwise, your arrow keys will still be reviewing the screen.

I have to say that I like Window-Eyes’ way of screen review, because I use the
numpad exclusively for that, whereas my regular arrow keys do what they would
for anyone else, without me having to switch cursors. Every-so-often, when I’m
using JAWS, I forget to switch back to the pc cursor for a minute and get
confused, though, this lasts only a few seconds, then I realize I forgot to
switch back. Since I use the JAWS demo, right now, most of my work is still
with Window-Eyes.

Hope this helps.

Subject: can someone help me a little?

Dear friends,

I recently just switch to jaws after 20 or more years using the superb screen
reader called window-eyes. One majorproblem that I am experience is that I
cant figure out how to review the screen line by line. For example, goto the
desktop.
Find the This Computer Icon.
Press alt enter on this computer to open its properties.
I know that you can use the insert+B in jaws to read the whole window, but how
to read this whole screen from top to bottom line by line and word by word
where necessary?

Your kind help is appreciated.

Kind regards,

Michael Mixcallef
