Remember this is just like any other program you download
and install. The only difference here is that when installing JAWS,
make sure Window-eyes is shut down. JAWS has a talking installer for
many, many years now and it is very similar to installing Window-eyes.
It's not as terrifying as some folks think.

Good luck. Although if this merger hadn't happened, Window-Eyes by now would
have had new braille support in it. They were going to strip out the braille
code and rewrite it from scratch and make braille more responsive

I would download the JAWS file with WE running. As for the rest, am
procrastinating until I have to do it. But took advantage of the offer as a
hedge. Good luck.--Matthew Chao

Hi everyone,
Well as always I have not yet migrated to JFW. I always like to wait
awhile for people to get a new update or new screen reader before I
will give it a try. I used to always do this with WE also because
ther are numerous bugs to be worked and so I wait until it is all in good
working order.
Anyway, I am going to finally download JFW today. I am absolutely
terrified since I had tried JFW before when I called them and they
sent me a demo CD to give it a try. I absolutely hated it and totally
forgot about JFW and continued with WE. d
Now I have saved a lot of the tips in a folder that has been shared on
this sight but one thing I did not save or accidently deleted is how
to go about the JFW download.
I have the link for the migration saved on IE so I am ready there.
What I am wondering is do I have to turn WE off to do the download or
can I leave it on to help me make the choices I need to make while
downloading JFW? I also have heard of different types of downloads
like home, professional, tandem. Which is the best to use. I assume
it will be home since I only have a home computer and do email, things
on the web and use Microsoft word. If I understand I should go tandem
that way I can give FO access to my computer if I run into problems.
Any help for the behind the times user would be greatly appreciated.
Please also keep your fingers crossed I do not throw the computer out
the window if things go haywire.
Dave
