Hi David:

If you are running Windows 7 or later, you probably will be safe downloading
the 64 bit version (which is the first one offered). As you surmised, it won’t
hurt to use the tandem version. VFO will ask you if you prefer home or pro
version of JFW. If you are using your screen reader for personal use, it’s
cheaper to use the home version. If you are using the screen reader at work,
the pro version is what they recommend.

When you go to install JAWS, you can leave WE running until you are prompted to
press Enter to begin the installation of JAWS. One more thing. You probably
want to tell WE not to automatically start up, because JAWS will start up after
a reboot.

If this information is late, please disregard.

Hi everyone,

Well as always I have not yet migrated to JFW. I always like to wait awhile
for people to get a new update or new screen reader before I will give it a
try. I used to always do this with WE also because ther are numerous bugs
to be worked and so I wait until it is all in good working order.

Anyway, I am going to finally download JFW today. I am absolutely terrified
since I had tried JFW before when I called them and they sent me a demo CD
to give it a try. I absolutely hated it and totally forgot about JFW and
continued with WE. d

Now I have saved a lot of the tips in a folder that has been shared on this
sight but one thing I did not save or accidently deleted is how to go about
the JFW download.

I have the link for the migration saved on IE so I am ready there.
What I am wondering is do I have to turn WE off to do the download or
can I leave it on to help me make the choices I need to make while
downloading JFW? I also have heard of different types of downloads like
home, professional, tandem. Which is the best to use. I assume it will be
home since I only have a home computer and do email, things on the web and
use Microsoft word. If I understand I should go tandem that way I can give
FO access to my computer if I run into problems.

Any help for the behind the times user would be greatly appreciated. Please
also keep your fingers crossed I do not throw the computer out the window if
things go haywire.

Dave
