Hi Brenda:

That little pop tells you JAWS is waiting for a command.

So, if you press Insert-Space, then S, you will hear “Speech Off”. Now, again
Pressing the same key combination, JAWS will say “Speech On”.

If you press Insert-Space, then the question mark, JAWS will list all the
things you can do after pressing Insert-Space.

Hope this helps.

hi List

Becky and Carol thanks for your replies.

I did try the Insert-spacebar and heard a pop but no choices and speech
was not turned off (fortunately). I didn't try insert-spacebar S because
there was not an option/prompt to do so.

Do I have a setting turned off?

Also, will turning off speech make my pc run like a normal pc so my
husband doesn't have to deal with jaws keystrokes? With Window-eyes I
would turn W-e off every time he needed to use my pc.

Thanks forany help.

Brenda
