Larry,
You can use the MS voices with NVDA. Just press the Window-Eyes status
bar hot key, Control-Insert-S and you'll go right to the synthesizer
selection combo-box in the NVDA control panel. There's SAPI 4, 5, and
mobile voices. They're much better than the voice that comes with NVDA
but have the typical SAPI sluggishness.
You'll then have to go back into the NVDA control panel via Insert-N, P
preferences, V voices, to select a voice.
I just purchased a bundle including Eloquence and Vocalizer Expressive
for NVDA from A/T Guys. Here's a link to their page with all the voices
they offer. I got the 69 dollar bundle. I didn't realize until after the
fact that they're not the latest Vocalizer voices. But that was my
fault. I was in too much of a rush and didn't even think they'd be
selling older versions. The latest ones are 115 bucks.

Good luck,

Sure hate to ask here, but does anybody know how much the cost for the
Vocalizer synth package for NVDA might be?
I have gone to their Web page, and can only find info on paying via
Euro, but nothing about the dollar.
I thought I'd like to give NVDA a go, but I just can't abide that
default synth, and would like to look into even using the Microsoft
voices used by Narrator, but that apparently isn't something one can do
immediately on the fly.
Don't really want to have to spend too much time contemplating the
inevitable eventuality of abandoning good'ole WE, and I'm sure that
wont be necessary for a while, but I would like to be prepared for the day.
BTW, if anybody can share any of the benefit of their experience
using NVDA with the latest MS voices in private, it would really be
appreciated.
Thanks much,
Larry
