But I just loaded Narrator, played around in Notepad, and made a bizarre discovery. If I type some text and then move anywhere within that text and type some more it is added there and the caret remains there. I can see that it remains if I arrow back and forth. But if I read the line with Control+Caps lock+O the caret is moved to the end of the line. I have no idea if this is a bug or intentional for some inexplicable reason. And I haven't used Narrator enough to know if there's another method that should be used to get what we expect.
