Hi Carol, As for iTunes or iCloud updates, we know that a dialog opens which is easily focused because it is in the Alt-Tab rotor. The other day, I got a notification for an update to Acrobat Reader DC, that is, a notification spoken aloud like you're describing, and, as I recall, I couldn't proceed with the update until I explored the icons in the notification area, at which point I found one labelled with the Adobe name. When I pressed enter on it, a dialog popped up, offering me the opportunity to update to the current version. There you go. Smile.
